…Don’t Invite It In.
Follow through on your plan. All of it. Do the thing you said you would do. The reason you came. Stay until the end. Finish the day.
I almost missed this hike. I saw this beautiful bright blue water in a photo online and made a plan to visit Glacier National Park where it was located. I was so ecstatic! It was easy to drive there from a nearby state. I had a limit of a few days to see all the hikes I wanted to. As I was closing my trip I got the instructions out to find this hike, the hike that inspired me. As I pulled up to the trailhead, looked through the dark trees, doubt entered my mind. What actually happened was I thought, “Is it really there? ..Could it be past these dark trees?…. I could just skip this one…. Is it worth it?”
Doubt often creeps in when we are stretching ourselves beyond. You can count on it. Question where it is coming from and if it is valid.

Thank God I gave it a go! After a bit of hiking, there it was! In all its incredible beauty. That undeniable and rare blue. No filter. Almost passed up from the road. I almost doubted my plan.
The same pattern was true for me involving new social events. I took a risk and finished the night, even though it did not seem to be going anywhere. Instead of giving up and going home, I saw the ending. The end is always better. (Assuming safety) That last bit seems to be really important.
Make it all the way. Give it an effort. Finish what you planned to start. Stick with it long enough to see if that approach works, before giving up, before moving on.

Results come from following through. Growth follows Results. All that = Joy.
The photo below was taken before I had a smart phone, so you can imagine the picture doesn’t do it justice.
