The recent years have only validated the entire Harry Potter series.
In one of the Harry Potter books, there is a magic mirror that Harry stands in front of for hours in the middle of the night. It is a very interesting metaphor that you can read about on Harry Potter Dot Com. Harry has so much to do, yet here he is sitting in front of a mirror for hours and hours.

Because of the return of Voldemort came true for me personally, I have been intrigued by the other pieces of the Harry Potter puzzle. I came to a recent conclusion, that scrolling is like the Harry Potter Mirror. This is quite fascinating because at the time of the writing of the book, there was not the phones that we have today.
My friends got iPhones way before I did. I called them ‘fancy phones.’ Just like your grandmother, I had the perspective of living in the world before those phones. So when I saw my friends and other people staring down at their tiny little TV sets and laughing, I thought it was very bizarre. I got a first hand peak of this trance like state in humans. In the middle of conversations with a real person, staring down at the phone. You could even say to the person next to you, ‘What are they doing staring at that tiny little tv?’ They would not even bat an eye.
Fast forward a few years I got a touch screen phone. A few years later 2020, was my first iPhone. It took awhile for me to get there, but my brain is no different. I felt a little bit guilty about all this time spent watching videos and scrolling. The algorithm is set to give you more of what you ‘desire’ to watch or more of what you feed your brain. You could say the algorithm is a copy of our thinking, because what you focus on becomes bigger. (so they say.) This is where the mirror comes in. We stare at it for hours sometimes, in the middle of the night even, when we should be sleeping!
There is a style of artist’s videos that I like to watch and found myself watching more and more. One was not enough, I wanted to hear what the others had to say about it. It was giving me information, good news, the idea that I had a head’s up on things. I have been considering spending less time watching.
It has the promise of entertainment now and creating a feeling now. The feeling Harry was getting from the mirror was love. Harry was almost wasting away in front of the mirror rather than be with people he knows.
It is absolutely endless. Some new artist’s are posting people that bully people online. They bring us JUSTICE. There are millions of people sharing their stories, offering us their perspective of events, perhaps the Truth. Whatever the feeling you are addicted to, you are only a few choice follows away from it.
Real life is work.
