A Different Kind Of Book Review
The Giver by Lois Lowry
After reading The Giver, I was inspired by all the metaphors and trying to put it all together. This book is one that really sticks with you.
I was inspired by the book to write this poem. It is about how we start repeating things we hear without really questioning if they are true.
The Giver
Books to Keep,
& Reread,
I’ll play the Giver,
You be the seed.
I’ll sound the speaker,
& Relay these things,
They Know Nothing….
They know no thing,
We know nothing,
We don’t know all things.
So Quit Repeating,
Things you hear,
And believing,
They hold dear,
Things repeated,
Become so common,
They’re believed in,
Without a challenge.
So Question Often,
Unless experience,
Tells you a law then,
It’s your own,
Not just a parrot talkin.
Let a question,
Be more common,
And let the silence,
Speak more often.
