You need to be hydrated to burn fat.
Isn’t that the most motivating fact you have ever heard about water?
Other things to consider…
Dehydration causes hunger thirst confusion and is linked with sugar cravings. Everything works better if you are hydrated.
We all know water is important.
The process of breaking down fat, requires hydrolysis. See Link below on resource.
Being hydrated effects the main motivators I hear:
- weight loss
- appetite
- energy
- being regular
Trying to lose weight without being hydrated first is like taking an appetite accelerator and trying to diet. Most of us get hunger thirst confusion. We are thirsty but are confused, so we eat. On top of that, many of us are not in tune with what we are feeling. We do not know what true hunger feels like, how can we know the difference between hunger and thirst.
Start. Decide on a manageable goal. Work up to the recommendation and see how you feel. (Half your weight in ounces of water daily.) If you are 200 pounds, that would be 100 ounces. If that is really a struggle, go for 64 ounces and work your way up and see how you feel.
Everything works better when you are hydrated: regular bowel movements, fiber itself does not work without water, burning fat, your brain, physical performance. Even a small amount of dehydration can effect brain function, 1-3%.
**Hey Ladies!! If any of those reasons is not enough, here is one more. If you are not going regularly- you are missing the bodies natural correction process. Your body excretes excess estrogen through your bowel movements. Isn’t that amazing?!
Why people are unsuccessful:
- They get out of the habit. Just get back on track. Start where you left off, not start again.
- They start using the bathroom a lot and it takes too much time. The body will actually regulate so this will get better. Give your body some time to adjust to being hydrated.
- They never had a proper trigger. A trigger reminds you of what you want to do. Example: a water bottle at your desk, or coupled with something else- like when you get up to use the bathroom. Some people also need a little buzzer, an alarm. This helps to check in. Where are you at with your water, it is 2 pm? It can also serve as the trigger. (I recommend coupling the water trigger with something you are already doing. That way you are not adding another ‘to do’. Plus you have the added benefit of piggy backing onto something you are already doing.)
- Pick a trigger, stick with it. Work through the challenges that come up. Eventually, when you see the water bottle, or use the bathroom you will automatically drink water.
- They stop themselves by saying, ‘I don’t like the taste of water.’ Think of it as something you don’t have to like. You don’t have to like it, if you like the benefit more.
- Add no sugar flavoring to dilute your water. Cucumber, lemon, strawberries, watered down tea. If you like the Mio or Crystal Light stuff- start with the least amount necessary then work your way to water. There is no shame in doing that. If you really hate water, get started first. -Yes, use your own judgement. I am not a purist if it means you won’t actually start. Take the steps necessary to be successful.
YOU CAN NOT LIVE WITHOUT WATER.

Although I can’t remember where I read the fact about releasing estrogen through bowel movements, here is an article from a Chiropractor:
