I am always asking myself what I am craving. This has really helped me with intuitive eating and let me to some surprising finds! It always leads me to the burst of joy in my mouth that seems to come from within.
This week I have been thinking a lot about black licorice, the strong kind. I am craving really strong earthy flavors lately. Suddenly my smooth tasting coffee is not something I appreciate as much. I want it to taste stronger, smell stronger, be earthier.
In the past, I have not even liked black licorice, not one bit. In fact, it was a candy I wouldn’t even eat. A few years ago I bought a licorice tea and just couldn’t finish it, so I was I was surprised to be willing to try again. Once I realized that was what I was craving, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I knew the kind of black licorice I wanted was going to be a particular kind, strong flavored and gluten free. While I was in Sedona, AZ I stopped at a Natural Grocers and found a few different options.
I chose a licorice that is in a rock candy. They also had the more chewy traditional kind. I will be back for the chewy kind and the other brands. It was so satisfying to eat! Exactly the strong flavor I was craving. I was just telling no one in the car how wonderful it was. I happened to have some chocolate flavored coffee that actually tasted quite good with it.
The brand is ZOT Organic.com. 11 pieces for 13 grams of sugar and each bite will just blow up with flavor in your mouth. I appreciate this so much! Perhaps the stronger the flavor, the more satisfying it will be.
I also found a licorice tea from Yogi brand. I couldn’t wait to get home and steep it. I was not disappointed. Taste buds can adapt. I am so glad I was willing to try it!
